Rajkot: Indian opener Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar blasted Sri Lankan bowlers all around the field here at at Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground in the 1st ODI.

India were 209 for one in the 25th over. Sehwag smashed his 12th century in just 66 balls. Sehwag and Tendulkar added 153 runs in just 19.3 overs. Tendulkar was bowled out by Dilahara Fernando for 69 runs. It was Sachin's 92nd ODI fifty.

After Sachin Skipper Dhoni joined the party in middle with Sehwag and took India past 200 in just 25th overs.

Sehwag was unbeaten for 106 runs while Dhoni was unbeaten for 25 runs at this moment.

Pakistan vs New Zealand Test

Daniel Vettori (100 not out) has posted his fifth Test hundred - his second against Pakistan.

During the course of his third century at home, Vettori has completed his 2,000 runs in New Zealand - 2004 at an average of 35.15 in 48 Tests.

In 2009, Vettori has recorded three centuries and three fifties in 14 innings (eight Tests) at an average of 62.08.

Of his three hundreds in New Zealand, Vettori has recorded two against Pakistan - his highest being 137 not out at Hamilton in December 2003. His other hundred in New Zealand is 118 against India at Hamilton in March 2009.

Vettori's unbeaten 100 at Napier is his first while batting at number six. He has recorded three at number eighth position and the remaining one while batting at number nine.

Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori shared a stand of 176 New Zealand's best for the sixth wicket against Pakistan, bettering the 145 between Richard Hadlee and John Reid at Wellington in January 1985.

New Zealand's best for the sixth wicket in Tests is 246 (unbroken) between Richard Hadlee and Jeff Crowe against Sri Lanka at Colombo CCC in April 1987. The only other 200-plus stand for this wicket-position for New Zealand is 220 between Glenn Turner and Ken Wadsworth against West Indies at Kingston in February 1972.

The stand is New Zealand's highest for the sixth wicket in New Zealand.

The 176-run stand between Vettori and McCullum is now the third highest for the sixth wicket against Pakistan in Tests - the top two being the 238 between Adam Gilchrist and Justin Langer for Australia at Hobart in November 1999 and 210 between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Irfan Pathan for India at Faisalabad in January 2006.

McCullum's 89 is his highest score against Pakistan, eclipsing the 78 at Dunedin in the first Test of the present series.

McCullum's second fifty against Pakistan is his 15th in Tests.

Danish Kaneria (4/119) has produced his second best bowling performance against New Zealand - his best being the five for 110 at Lahore in May 2002.

Tim McIntosh (74) has registered his best innings against Pakistan, bettering the 31 in the first Test at Dunedin last month.

Mcintosh has recorded his second best score in Tests, next only to his career-best 136 against West Indies at Napier in December 2008.

McIntosh's aforesaid innings is his second fifty in Tests - his first was 69 against Sri Lanka at Galle in August this year.

McIntosh and Bradley-John Watling put on 60 runs - New Zealand's first partnership of fifty or more runs for the first wicket in 24 innings.

New Zealand's last partnership of 50 or more for the first wicket was 55 by Aaron Redmond and Jamie How against Bangladesh at Chittagong in October 2008.

By winning the match against Sri Lanka by (six wickets)India has proved yet again that it is still a powerhouse of twenty twenty cricket and can beat any team and can set the bar higher with every passing match.

The way Indian batsmen batted must have given them a psychological boost.

Indian batsmen were able to play very positively since the beginning of their inning. Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir gave India a dream start. Sehwag was in a very attacking mood and did not spare any Sri Lankan bowler.

He scored 64 runs on mere 34 balls and hammered three big sixes. His big hitting seem to have sent the shockwaves among Sri Lankan bowlers.

But for Sri Lankan bowlers the worst was yet to come.

Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh batted defying Sri Lankan bowlers.

Dhoni scored 46 runs off 28 balls while Yuvraj scored 60 runs off merely 25 balls. He hit five big sixes and three fours.

Earlier Yuvraj Singh had done magic with ball as well. He scalped three crucial wickets to restrict Sri Lanka for 206 runs.

From Sri lankan side Sangakkara was the lone batsman who could score a fifty. He scored 59 runs off only 31 balls.
